A number of people have inquired as to how it was that I became what has been affectionately referred to as a "crazy Dachshund lady." In all honesty, it began with my daughter. When she was twelve years old, she had a deep longing to get a Dachshund puppy. As you might suppose, it was the subject of frequent conversations of the persuasive variety. Her earnest pleas softened the heart of my good husband, and she got a Miniature Dachshund that she named ""Tillamook" after a local cheese company, but she always went by "Tilly." Given her fondness for cheese, it was a most fitting name.
Tilly was bred and blessed a number of families with puppies, which was a precious experience to be a part of. I should have seen it coming, but I was taken quite by surprise when I accidentally fell in love with one of her puppies a couple of litters later. Again, my husband softened to the pleas of his wife, and I have had my girl "Paisley" for eleven years now.
The past few years have been challenging for Tilly. She was showing her age in many ways. On the first of March, she celebrated her sixteenth birthday. Last week, Tilly crossed over the rainbow bridge, as they say. It's hard to describe all that Tilly meant to my daughter, but anyone who has had a beloved animal friend who helped them through the difficulties of adolescence understands.

Yesterday was a special day for us, as a new puppy joined our crew! She has the absolute sweetest disposition, and she has a real fondness for snuggling. Of course, there was only one name that we could give her at a time like this. Her AKC name is "Little Tillamook Cream," but we call her "Little Tilly," or simply, "Tilly." She is just the dearest little thing, and we hope you enjoy watching her grow up along with us.
